Position Description

Green Plains Renewable Energy, Inc., an ethanol production company (stock symbol: GPRE), has an immediate need for a temporary Human Resources Assistant at our Corporate office in Omaha, Nebraska.  Project expected to last three months with potential for temp-to-hire.

 

Summary

The Human Resources Assistant will perform a variety of administrative support activities within the human resources department such as maintaining employee record systems, responding to requests for information, and preparing and submitting personnel and benefit documents.  The Human Resources Assistant will perform confidential tasks to ensure efficiency, effectiveness and customer service to the organization.

 

 Essential Responsibilities

·     Maintain filing for master personnel files and benefit files

·     Process address changes, changes in job titles, and personnel information

  • Maintain employee documents in accordance with legal and company requirements, ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Assist with recruitment components of tracking applicants, reviewing resumes, conducting phone interviews, responding to inquiries regarding open positions, and preparing rejection notifications or employment offer letters
  • Coordinate and prepare pre-employment background checks and drug tests for applicants
  • Process employment verifications
  • Prepare new employee payroll and benefit packets
  • Assist with employee inquiries regarding payroll, benefits, policy and procedures
  • Prepare internal and external correspondence
  • Review benefit invoices for accuracy and prepare reports for payment for all locations; submit discrepancies to TPA
  • Develop and maintain open and positive communication with all internal and external contacts including other departments and outside organizations/agencies to assist in attaining company goals
  • Assist with department projects
  • Provide support to Human Resources Coordinator and Vice President Human Resources
  • Perform general clerical duties and office support functions to include but not limited to photocopying, faxing, mailing, and filing
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous human resources experience preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to deal courteously and professionally with a diverse range of individuals orally and in writing while maintaining confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality of all internal and personnel affairs
  • Good organization and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Positive attitude with the desire to succeed
  • Ability to meet physical demands of the job, including but not limited to:  frequent sitting, standing, and walking; frequent computer use; frequent telephone use; some lifting or moving up to 25 lbs
